NBC Brings out the Big Guns

I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about "Surface" really appeals to me. Two things come to mind though. Maybe it's Lake Bell's cup-runneth-over performance, or the titillating story line.

An actress is known by her parts, and Ms. Bell has had her two notable parts on TV. ( Playing Laura Daughtery on "Surface" and Sally Heep on "Boston Legal")

NBC proudly displays its perky logo on the corner of the screen for everyone to see. No wonder they are the "Peacock Station". I think MIO can rest easy. The producers, writer, directors, or somebody affiliated with the show knows exactly what they are doin'. "Surface" will be back for multiple seasons.

Oh, I guess that's the wrong kind of maid. Oh, well. Not a whole lot of operas written featuring French Maids. But if there were, I'd be a season ticket holder!

Oh... I did have an interesting experience at a local restaurant this weekend. We were sat in the middle of a PT Cruiser club at Buca di Beppo. They were friendly folk (not like the Hell's Angels club we usually hang out with). The restaurant prides itself on its family atmosphere, and the Southern Chapter of the PT Cruisers club was all in. ("Cruisin' Southern Style" is their motto.) By the end of the evening, our co-guests were offering us their leftovers.

Like a lot of restaurants (okay, at least a few) their walls are covered with photo memorabilia. I wonder if each restaurant has exactly the same photos in exactly the same location. Faux down hominess.
