The Happiest Place On Earth
So many things to blog about, so little time. :)
"I've got 2 Turntables and a Microphone"
It seems that the amount of luggage and What-Nots required for a trip goes up exponentially with the number of kids you have. Three "real" suitcases, my son's Thomas the Tank Engine suitcase, a soft-side carry on, Pack-n-play, stroller, booster seat, snacks, diapers, drugs, PMS-ing wife, energetic 5 year old, teething 15 month old... everything but the kitchen sink. The wife's early day off at the hospital ended up taking until 4 pm, so we got an unusually late start to the Sunshine State. A major traffic snag on the interstate, and suddenly it's dinner time and we are only to the Southern Suburbs of Atlanta. Grrr....
"Africa Hot"
Okay... I'm not going to complain about the weather. Low 90's and humid, rained most days. But weather only cut one of our days short. But now I know exactly what it means to "sweat like a pig". Oink.
And since I'm talking "hot" and "Africa", what is it about women on stilts? I'm referring to the Costumes for the Lion King, of course. I guess stilts are the ultimate stiletto heels.
"Legends of the Fall"
Wednesday was a dark day. It started out great. Breakfast at Chef Mickey's with all of his friends. But it took a turn for the worse at the monorail station. The girl tripped and fell, biting her lip in the process. I was hoping to end up with part ownership of Disney (after the law suit and all), but Denny Crane would take our case. We did end up spending the afternoon at a pediatric dentist's office on the far side of Orlando. (Thank you Delta Dental). Anyway, she has a loose, but not lost tooth. As of this morning, our dentist says all is well with the angel.
"Chariots of Fire"
What's up with all of the Rascals, Runabouts, EVCs? You know the, motorized lounge chairs. I mean, I understand people that are truly disabled having them, but just having a lard ass should not qualify. It's a vicious circle. The circle of life.
And if they weren't so obnoxious about how they drove and parked them!
One room in our hotel had 5, count 'em 5, EVCs parked out front. Man, I wish I had that concession!
"An Argument for Social Darwinism"
Disney is an odd melting pot. Besides the normal people (like me) there was a varied assorment of Pacific rimmers, EUs, red-necks, and geeks. My favorite was the pair of ex ZZ Top Roadies sharing the seat on the "It's a Small World" ride. And me without my camera! And, with all due respect to IMO's mohawk family, the father-son rat-tail family in line to get Stitch's autograph took the cake.
Okay, I don't have a lot of room to talk, but everything I saw at Disney supported the AMAs worries about the fattening of America. I'd put the ration of hot babe in low riders to "no she didn't" girl in low riders at 1 to 5.
"Eva Longoria wants Me"
A bright moment. I mean, Disney is the happiest place on Earth.. There we were sitting on the Monorail (yes we chanced it even after Lauren's accident.) Standing cross from us was a family. Joe blow dad, average 2 children, and Eva Longoria's twin sister. She was wearing a white halter top, and blue jean shorts. There, peaking out over the waistband was the edge of a tattoo... a wing tip. Makes you wonder. Pegasus? Perhaps a butterfly? A bird of paradise?
Tell me what it takes to let you go
Tell me how the pain's supposed to go
Tell me how it is that you can sleep in the night
Without thinking you lost everything that was good in your life to the toss of the dice?
Tell me who's to blame for thinkin' twice
'cause I don't wanna burn in paradise
Our eyes met. A look told me all she could not say. She wanted me just as much as I wanted.... the train started moving again. Next stop, The Magic Kingdom.
